Using Cell Phones for the Classroom

It's been about nine months since I last posted ... I've been busy acclimating to my new position as an elementary librarian ... but I'm back now!  I hope to post weekly highlights of various resources that can be used within your classroom!

http://www.socrative.com/
I've mentioned this site before, but it worth repeating.  Socrative is a WONDERFUL tool that can be used in the classroom to check for student understanding.  And, the best thing about it is it is FREE!!!

It works like this ...

You create a "room" and input either a quiz, a quick poll question or even an "exit ticket".

Students use their smartphones, laptops, or tablets and log into the "room".  They input their answers and suddenly you receive the information!  You now have access to whether or not your students are understanding the material and/or task at hand!

Another FANTASTIC resource is Remind.
https://www.remind.com/
Remind is a cool site that allows you to text students and parents about homework reminders, upcoming events, last minute helpful website resources, and much MUCH more!

I've used it in the past with my class and school writing club.  It was perfect as my personal cell phone number was never shown and neither was theirs.  Quick.  Safe,  Efficient.
